Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I ask your continued prayers for those who were killed or injured Saturday night at Club Q, until Saturday, a safe haven for members of the LGBTQ community in Colorado Springs.

We pray for those who had died and those injured. We now know 5 young people were killed and 18 were injured, some still in critical condition, all done by the hands of a heavily armed man. I ask your continued prayers for all those who grieve.

I also ask your prayers for all those who feel persecuted simply for who they love or how they express their uniqueness. Whether you are a resident of Colorado or a resident of New York, this mass murder seems sadly familiar to all LGBTQ folks. I know our church members who identify as LGBTQ are feeling this pain right now so I ask that you keep them in your prayers as well.

I close with this prayer today:

Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we many not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen

God Bless, Fr Jim
